The world’s 80 richest people have the same wealth as the bottom 3.6 billion

The world’s wealthiest people are really, really rich – at least compared to the rest of us. Calculations by Oxfam show that the world’s 80 richest people had about the same amount of wealth as the bottom half of the global population, or 3.6 billion people, in 2014. The number of billionaires that it takes to equal the wealth of the global bottom half has fallen in recent years, from 388 in 2010 to 177 in 2011, 159 in 2012, and 92 in 2013.
