Visualizing the global weapons trade

Natalia Bronshtein, a professor and consultant who runs the blog Insightful Interaction, used data from the Siri Arms Transfer Database to map all major transfers of conventional weapons in 2013. Russia is the largest player, exporting $8.23 billion in arms that year, while the U.S. follows behind with $5.99 billion. China is a distant third, exporting $1.83 billion in 2013. You can view the interactive, which lets you hover over a country connection to see the details, here.
